Our Craftsmen
James and Narelle Stewart fell in love with Airlie and the Whitsunday area instantly and it took little convincing to move from the hustle and bustle of the Gold Coast.
James, otherwise known as "Stewy", has been working with marble and granite since 1980. After studying Fine Art, particularly sculpture atr Jackson College in the late 1970's, James hones his natural flair for art and stone.
After three years working as a monumental mason and freehand letter cutter he started working for the first marble and granite business on the Gold Coast producing bench tops, vanities and the like.
Stewy has been involved in many diverse projects spanning more then two decades. Included in them is the construction of the largest man-made waterfall in the Southern Hemisphere. This magnificent African black granite fountain is at the entrance to the Theatrical Arts Centre as Southbank Brisbane. Other projects include the refurbishment of the Hilton Hotel Brisbane and personally commissioned work by public identities.
